In medical diagnosis, it is often necessary to observe the internal situation of patients through scanning technology. Among them, ultrasonic scanning technology and nuclear magnetic resonance scanning technology are two common methods. The principles and usage scenarios of the two are different, and this article will compare these aspects to help readers better understand their respective characteristics.

1、 Principle comparison

Ultrasonic scanning technology is a technique that uses ultrasound to scan human tissues and organs. The principle of ultrasonic scanning is to drive the ultrasonic transducer to emit ultrasonic waves through the high-frequency alternating current generated by the ultrasonic generator. When ultrasound propagates through various structures in the human body, it generates reflections and scattering at the boundaries of tissues and organs. These reflected and scattered waves can be received by transducers and then converted into electrical signals. Finally, the electrical signal is converted into an image, through which doctors can observe the patient's internal situation.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a method of obtaining internal information of the human body using the principle of nuclear magnetic resonance. The principle of nuclear magnetic resonance is that in a strong magnetic field, atomic nuclei in human tissues will resonate with the magnetic field. Because the resonance frequency of atomic nuclei in different tissues is different, information about different tissues can be obtained by adjusting the strength and frequency of the magnetic field. Through this method, three-dimensional images of the patient's interior can be obtained and quantitative analysis can be performed on various tissues and organs.

2、 Comparison of usage scenarios

Ultrasonic scanning technology is mainly used to observe superficial tissues and organs within the human body, such as the liver, pancreas, hip joints, etc. Because ultrasound can penetrate the superficial tissues of the human body, ultrasound scanning technology has great advantages for conditions that require real-time observation. In addition, ultrasound scanning does not require the use of any radioactive substances, making it very safe for patients.

Magnetic resonance scanning technology is mainly used to observe deep tissues and organs, such as the brain, chest, abdomen, etc. Due to the ability of MRI to provide high-resolution images, MRI scanning technology is one of the best choices for conditions that require stronger contrast and higher clarity. However, MRI scanning requires the use of stronger magnetic fields and radiation than ultrasound scanning, which may have some side effects on patients.

3、 Comparison of advantages and disadvantages

The advantage of ultrasound scanning technology is that it is easy to operate, can be quickly completed under real-time observation, does not require the use of radioactive substances, is safe for patients, and is suitable for infants, children, and pregnant women. The disadvantage is that the observation of deep tissues and organs is not very accurate, and for hard tissues such as bones, lungs, etc., effective image information cannot be obtained.

The advantage of nuclear magnetic resonance scanning technology is that it can provide high-resolution images and observe deeper structures and lesions, such as white matter and gray matter lesions. The disadvantage is that the operation is complex, requires a certain amount of time and preparation, causes discomfort and pressure to the patient, and the radiation is relatively high. For patients who cannot enter the strong magnetic field (such as those implanted with pacemakers), scanning cannot be performed.

4、 Conclusion

Overall, ultrasound scanning technology and nuclear magnetic resonance scanning technology each have their own strengths, and different scanning methods should be selected based on the specific situation of patients. For shallow tissues and organs that require fast real-time imaging, ultrasound scanning technology is the best choice, and its safety is also higher. For deep tissues and organs that require high-resolution images, nuclear magnetic resonance scanning technology is the best choice, but at the same time, attention should be paid to the impact of radiation. In summary, medical diagnosis needs to be selected based on the individual needs of patients to achieve more accurate diagnostic results.
